Best of the Week

There are so many reasons that mid-century homes have endured over the years and are still beloved throughout generations. One such reason, is the impeccable craftsmanship and care that has gone into each construction. These architects refused to cut corners, and knew the importance of using quality materials. Mid-century homes were built to last, which also means they are a great investment.

Over the years we have given you so many reasons to love mid-century modern homes, and still we continue to be inspired by them. We hope you are too! Although these homes are not classic MCM’s we felt the design paid homage to the high standards set by the great designers of the 50s and 60s.

As always enjoy our picks, and have a great weekend!

Pound Ridge, NY

Home completely rebuilt in 1990. This Richard Moger design offers mid-century modern flavor with its subtle blend of craftsmanship, simplicity, and nature. The wonderful use of wood and stone throughout the interior and exterior offers great harmony between the house and its surrounding landscape. The impressive 20-foot tall stone fireplace wall that greats you upon entry is set against soft mahogany carpentry that can found throughout this warm and inviting home. The property, which abuts a 48-acre Westchester Land Trust preserve that cannot be developed, offers a gorgeous mix of gardens and specimen plantings and includes a pool, pool house, and tennis court amongst the 5+ acres. The 5,100+ square foot home (+838 more sq. ft. in finished basement) offers 4 bedrooms and 4.5 baths, but it is the entertainment areas (both indoor and outdoor) that are the centerpieces of the home. The two-story entry and living room, which welcome you, are complemented by the eat-in kitchen, family room, and screened-in patio that will serve as the core of where you’ll spend your time together! This is a home where hearts will be warmed, memories will be created, and lives forever enriched.
