Best of the Week

We have some explaining to do…

Over the past two weeks, our team at Architectural Homes NY has paused work to support our administrator, Rebecca. Following a standard medical procedure, Rebecca faced multiple health complications, leading to five days in the ICU and subsequent step-up care. She’s now at home, making strides towards recovery. We’re immensely thankful for the outpouring of love and support from our community, and we continue to wish Rebecca a rapid recovery.

To compensate for the unexplained absence over the past two weeks, we’re offering a special, Monday edition of Best of the Week. There have been so many exquisite homes that we couldn’t wait until the end of the week to get you up to speed. We hope you enjoy catching up on what you’ve missed, and don’t worry, these homes are still available for purchase.

_______

As always enjoy our picks and have a great weekend!

P.S. If you have any friends or family that would enjoy this weekly update, please let us know and we would be glad to add them to our mailing list.

15 Finney Farm Road
Croton-on-Hudson, NY

Experience simplicity and expansive views at the Volner House, where modern living meets the majestic Hudson River. Just 45 minutes from New York City, this private oasis sits gracefully between the Hudson National Golf Course and the vast expanse of the Hudson River, offering unparalleled vistas of river bays, marinas and the iconic Palisades. Designed in 1951 by modernist H. Seymour Howard Jr., a visionary of Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, the Volner House stands as the original cornerstone of a modernist enclave along the Hudson River. Howard’s career included collaborations with architectural giants Marcel Breuer and Le Corbusier, culminating in the creation of this architectural gem.

$1,500,000

66 Summit Drive
Hastings-on-Hudson, NY

Impressive and serene, this unique midcentury modern home is perched high up in Riverview Manor, with a commanding view across the leafy village to the Hudson River. With plenty of space to spread out, and a distinct modern aesthetic and nature-embracing vibe, this 4 bed 3 full bath property checks every box. Geometric shapes, integration with nature, high ceilings of cedar and highly functional spaces are all hallmarks of the Modernist movement and this house, in particular. Whether relaxing on your 27 foot balcony gazing out towards the river, entertaining in the living room with fireplace and vaulted ceiling and wall of windows and sliding glass doors, or working in your home office off the family room, you have every space you desire for a 21st century lifestyle. Uber-functional kitchen with skylight and an abundance of cabinetry is entirely open to the eating area. Sliding glass doors provide access to the patio and rock gardens in the backyard, which is fenced in. Enjoy unobstructed sight lines towards a window-enveloped sunroom and second balcony. See the river and the Palisades from this balcony, which was part of the distinctive addition to the house by noted architect Eva Bouhassira in 2013. Three bedrooms are downstairs, in an architecturally distinct design that imitates ships (where bedrooms are below the main deck). The landscape benefits from a newly rebuilt staircase and mature plantings, the house from a fresh paint and polish. Two car garage ensures you never need storage space or protection from the elements. This superb property is unforgettable from every vantage: Location, proximity to town and train, affluence and prestige, yes you can have it all!

$5,750,000

285 Becker Hill Road
Red Hook, NY

Embrace modern luxury and breathtaking views of the Catskill Mountains from this stunning masterpiece designed by award-winning architect Aron Himmelfarb. Set on 23.5 acres of rolling farmland evocative of the Tuscan countryside, this tranquil oasis is only minutes from the Hudson Valley’s most desirable villages and cultural destinations. Inspired by the region’s rich agricultural history, the design is in conversation with the surrounding landscape. As the cedar siding naturally silvers over time, it will highlight the form of the architecture, create texture, and weather differently on each facade. From the terra-cotta tiles to the Danby marble counters, each material has been artfully considered. Black burlap wallpaper in the foyer is striking yet also rustic and reminiscent of farm life. Custom windows and doors throughout bring the outdoors in. A wraparound stacked bluestone terrace offers yet another place to gather. A thoughtful layout offers everyday ease. The formal entryway opens to a sunken living room with soaring ceilings, kitchen, and a family room. Upstairs are three bedrooms with a full bathroom. On the opposite side of the house is the primary suite with its own terrace, bathroom with soaking tub and steam shower, and den. Downstairs are two additional bedrooms, each with a full bathroom, a laundry room with double washer/dryers, an additional family room and storage. Looking out over the rolling hills and mountains in the distance you’ll find a saltwater pool, hot tub, and party barn. The amenities continue with an outdoor grill, bluestone patio, vegetable garden, swing-set, all overlooking truly magical open skies. 10 minutes to Red Hook. 15 minutes to Rhinebeck. 28 minutes to Hudson. Taxes do not include Agricultural Exemption.
